My Dad is in town this week for business and we got to spend some quality time with him at Brick Oven last night. It was great to see him! The weather was not so inviting so he had to run to Gap to buy a sweater because it has been so cold. It was great to catch up and get fed in the process :) Dad has been working on a lot of projects for the Church with his job in Tampa and in Orlando and will be in Vegas on Friday all while being the Stake President! I can't believe all of the things he gets done in one day. He still has four more years in that calling and he has loved every minute of it. He has been such a great example to me of service in the church especially when it isn't convenient. I'm so glad we got to spend time with him and am already looking forward to the next trip!
Yes...you read that right. I was driving around Lehi this week dropping off goodies for other doctor's offices when I happened to drive by this farm. I did a serious double-take and pulled my car over immediately to get a picture of this crazy sign. In the middle of the rolling hills and beautiful farmland was this declaration. I'm assuming the owner's name is Whimpey and that they probably get a kick out of crazy strangers who actually get out of their car to take a picture of their sign. Either way they were probably just as amused as I was.
It's been one week since finals got over and I have to say I am so happy to have Ryan back! He basically stayed up all night last Tuesday working on a project. He came home at 5 am then got up at 6 am to go take a test and then present his project. He came home around 2 on Wednesday and was dead asleep until I came home from work and found him like this. Seriously if anyone deserves a break it is him. The engineering program has been intense and he has worked so hard trying to really learn everything and not just pass the class and I couldn't be more proud. He only has 7 classes left to take before he graduates! He has already started studying for the GRE and our next step will be applying for grad schools. But for now I'm going to just let him relax and enjoy his month vacation while it lasts.
I have been tagged by a friend to play a little blog game. Considering I needed a break from scanning medical records at work I was relieved for something to think about.

I have been thinking a lot about Ryan and I's future home lately. I have been missing my old job where I got to be involved in more hands on projects with construction and design. Though I didn't own the homes, or even live in them, I came to appreciate good design and got to see a lot of what is out there and I'm starting to get excited for the time when I can put my own style and good bargain hunting skills to good use. Here are a few design inspirations that I have been thinking about lately.

Yes, yes...I know that the chances of my house actually looking like any of these pictures is probably slim to none because it will be full of toys and diapers and eventually teenage messes (oh yeah and we will actually have to pay for this stuff! Yikes!) but I hope to pull off a little bit of style while someday making a house a home. Wish me luck!
I'm feeling like a terrible wife today. Ryan is busting his butt at school trying to finish two finals and a group project by tomorrow at 11am and I am sitting at work thinking of how my life stinks because my FREE lunch at the hosital cafeteria doesn't sound good today. Boo-hoo huh.
I will be so glad when I have Ryan back for the summer...then my complaining will seem a little more justified.
A couple of Sundays ago we helped groom our friend Devon. Whitney started by giving him an amazing mullet but the boys finished it off by shaving his head in the end. We enjoyed the white-trash event as Devon, wrapped in a trash bag, watched his hair roam about the neighborhood.
Lara and I went to a baby shower this weekend so we went to TJ Max looking for cute girl clothes. There were so many cute baby girl clothes I wanted to die! I ended up getting a little baby polo cardigan, a funny onesie and a little prepy dress. Love it! Everything was so tiny and adorable...and surprisingly afordable. I would have bought everything in the store if I could've. Made me a little excited to one day shop for my own little bundle of joy.
Did anybody else know that we have a dollar store in Provo? No, no...I mean a DOLLAR store...yes...ONE DOLLAR...everything in the whole store is ONE DOLLAR or less! Seriously I about had a heart attack when Lara took me into this amazing, albeit scary store. You can find everything here...can openers...one dollar, aluminum foil...one dollar, a gallon jug of water...one dollar. I mean, come on people! This is crazy! My mind is still blown days later thinking there is no way that store is making any profit, but Dollar Tree...you just found yourself a new customer.
Ryan and I took ourselves and a bag full of chips and Dr. Pepper up to our secret spot in the mountains Sunday after church. It was so beautiful and sunny outside! It was perfect weather for a nap and to read a good book which is eactly what we did. Ryan napped while I finished reading my book. We have been going to this same park since we moved out here and we feel like it's our special place now to get away from it all and to just relax and soak up the much needed sun. It was a perfect way to wrap up the short weekend.
So apparently I have been missing out. Now that spring has sprung (knock on wood) everyone is talking about their summer plans and an always popular event during the summer is camping. I am not a camper. For those of you who know me this comes as no surprise. But hope has arrived! It's called Glamping. It's camping for the glamorous. Now, people may say this is not camping. Au contraire! We are still outdoors, we may still have the possibility of furry visitors but we are in the comfort of amazing design. Now if only I could find a good glamping site...any suggestions?
Kathleen Kelly: What will NY152 say today, I wonder. I turn on my computer. I wait impatiently as it connects. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: You've got mail. I hear nothing. Not even a sound on the streets of New York, just the beating of my own heart. I have mail. From you.
I know it is Spring because I want to start watching You've Got Mail. I also want to wear cute dresses with cardigans and eat at an outdoor cafe. Spring is a fabulous time for love and a perfect time to dust off the sappy 90's romance movies that I could not live without.
Long live You've Got Mail!
I wish my book shelves looked like this...

I miss the sunshine, the salty air rusting everything in sight, the fact that you can't stand outside for longer than a minute without sweating, Ryan's hair after he comes back from a session, wearing your bathing suit and flip flops to the grocery store with no one blinking an eye, my mom's flowers blooming in the backyard, Comet jumping like a rabbit through the grass, and life changing talks on the beach. Sigh.
Maybe I'm missing it so much because I feel like when we get back to Florida we will be in a whole new part of life, even though we kinda won't. Ryan will still be a student...Grad student, but still...and I will probably still be working...we might start a family and buy a house (eventually) but my heart knows that we will be one step closer to our many goals. I really am enjoying "the journey" but am so looking forward to our next step in Floridise.
**For those of you wondering, yes that is Ryan surfing in El Salvador...at least I think it's El Salvador...I can't keep track.**
